3 1/2 FDL |
| Type of Site | Leanto and Tent Site | |
| Easy to find? | Not really | You have to know where you are going, ask the ranger at check-in if you have problems. |
| Capacity | Small tent site and 6 leantos | This is really 2 sites near each other. One tent site and one leanto site. The leantos sleep 4 big fat scouters. |
| Can you drive to it? | Yes | Plenty of room for cars. No problem for an Italian Troop from The Bronx. |
| Water | Artiesian well right at the Site | The water does not need to be purified. It has a very mineraly taste, like sulfer. Most Scouts find it repulsive. The water is tested regularly, and is safe. |
| Latrine | 10 steps to the pit latrine. | May need cleaning, but generally in good repair. |
| Biggest Advantage | Right on the shore of one of the eddies of the Delaware River. All leantos face the river. | All leantos face the river. |
| Secondary Advantage | Off public dirt road near it's end. | This generally keeps day hikers and yuppies away, very secluded. |
| Primary Disadvantage | The smell of the water | I really can't stress this enough, the water smells terrible, but makes great coffee. Even if you boil the water, it still stinks. |
| Secondary disadvantage | The road to the site | The road is VERY rough. Sedans will bottom out. We call this road the "Widow maker". |
| Bonus Disadvantage | The site is right below, and near a freight train trestle. | It is very interesting and a safe distance away. Occasionally however, a 100+ car freight train will go over the trestle making the ground shake and waking you at 4:30 AM. |
